Banderas hails Alejandro Sanz for coming to woman’s defense

“Proud of you, Alejandro. No to sexual violence,” said actor Antonio Banderas on Monday in support of Alejandro Sanz, who last weekend interrupted his concert in Mexico to defend a woman who was being attacked by a man.

Banderas thus applauded Sanz’s action on Twitter after the latter got down off the stage to reprimand the man for his attitude and got him thrown out of the concert venue.

According to videos posted on the social networks, which have gotten more than 500,000 views, the singer stopped the concert, climbed down off the stage and told the attacker “We don’t do that,” at the same time he was motioning for him to leave.

Concertgoers also shouted their request that the man be expelled and, shortly thereafter, Sanz apologized for the interruption and said that he doesn’t like it when anyone is mistreated, much less a woman, after which he received a powerful ovation.

Images of that moment have gone viral online and have sparked a huge number of reactions, both from anonymous people as well as friends of the singer.

“Dear friend, I admired you before, today I admire you much more,” said Monica Naranjo, who added the #ViolenciaCero (Zero Violence) hashtag to her comment.

The most repeated comment on the social networks has been the word “Grande” (Great), followed by hands applauding.
