U.S. lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret will this year open its first flagship store in China, in the city of Shanghai, where it already has five concept stores in commercial centers, official Shanghai Daily newspaper reported.
The flagship store will take up an area of 1,475 square meters (15,877 square feet) at Lippo Plaza on Huaihai Road, which used to be a two-story retail store of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.
“Unlike the existing five concept stores in Shanghai that only sell accessories and beauty products such as perfumes, shampoos and canvas bags, the flagship will sell its specialty bras and panties,” one of the store managers told the Daily.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Louis Vuitton, or LV, spoke of “the temporary suspension of all commercial activities on our Huaihai store due to the evolvement of business environment around Huaihai Road.”
He added that although LV has no plans to open any more stores in Shanghai, where it already has another three outlets, it could do so in other places.
