About 79.8 percent of Spaniards between the ages of 25 and 64 consider their state of health very good or good, above the European Union average of 73.6 percent, according to data released on Wednesday by the EU statistical agency Eurostat, on the eve of World Health Day.
About 15.4 percent of the Spanish population in that age group thinks their health is acceptable, below the EU average of 19.5 percent.
Another 4.8 percent of Spaniards consider the state of their health as bad or very bad, in contrast to the EU average of 6.8 percent.
Among the member states in 2014 more than eight out of 10 people aged between 25 and 64 years saw their health as very good or good.
The exact percentages were 84.6 percent in Greece, 84.2 percent in Ireland, 82.9 percent in Sweden, 82.7 percent in Cyprus, 82.6 percent in Malta and 80.1 percent in the Netherlands.
The EU statistics agency said that the level of education has an influence on health status.
In general, a clear link could be established between education and self-perception of health status.
