Italian fashion house Gucci has decided to hold mixed-gender fashion shows starting in 2017 as it will “simplify many aspects” of the business and allow the company to only hold two shows a year.
“Moving to one show each season will significantly help to simplify many aspects of our business,” said the president and CEO of Gucci, Marco Bizzarri.
“Maintaining two separate, disconnected calendars has been a result of tradition rather than practicality,” he added.
Creative director Alessandro Michele will show his collections in two shows a year at spring/summer and autumn/winter, sources from the company.
The first mixed-gender shows will take place at the new Milan headquarters of the fashion house, according to Bizzarri.
Gucci’s decision follows the one taken by Burberry in February to also combine their male and female shows, starting in September.
