Armani announces commitment to go fur-free

Italian fashion house Armani announced its decision not to use animal fur in all its future collections from the next autumn-winter 2016/2017 season.
Giorgio Armani, founder of the fashion house, said in a statement “I am pleased to announce that the Armani Group has made a firm commitment to abolish the use of animal fur in its collections.”

“Technological progress made over the years allows us to have valid alternatives at our disposition that render the use of cruel practices unnecessary as regards animals,” Armani added.

“Pursuing the positive process undertaken long ago, my company is now taking a major step ahead, reflecting our attention to the critical issues of protecting and caring for the environment and animals,” the Italian fashion designer elaborated.

Armani’s decision to go fur-free was taken after reaching an agreement with the Fur Free Alliance which comprises more than 40 animal-protection organizations focused on ending the fur trade.

Armani is following in the footsteps of other trending designers, such as Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Stella McCartney.
