The Colombian Film Festival of New York

The Colombian Film Festival of New York celebrates its 5th year on Thursday March 23rd at The Village East Cinema with the U.S premiere of Perros by colombian director Harold Trompetero.

Perros (Dogs) is the story of Misael (John Leguizamo), a peasant who’s been incarcerated for a crime of passion. During his confinement, he is found guilty and therefore forgotten by his loved ones. Throughout his sentence he is abused and humiliated by guards and other prisoners. Alone and abandoned, Misael finds affection and tenderness in Sarna, a prison dog.

“Perros (Dogs) is perhaps the most important film of my career in experimental terms, it is the result of hard work and the ability to bring together the best male cast of colombian actors led by John Leguizamo. It’s an honor to have this film as part of the opening night on the 5th year of the most important overseas festival which focuses on colombian cinema” says Harold Trompetero.

The CFF’s fifth year lineup includes a wide selection of fiction, documentary, and short films. Our celebration begins with a Red Carpet Event on Thursday, March 23rd, at 6:00pm with the attendance of special guests. After the screening the audience can share a Q & A session with director Harold Trompetero, producer Mauricio Brunetti, and actor John Leguizamo. The evening will close with a performance by salsa legend Larry Harlow & Band at Copacabana (268 W 47 St) Times Square NYC.
