Facebook, which has 1.591 billion users worldwide, maintained its leading place amongst social networks, according to the sixth map prepared by the organization of the Ibero-American Congress on Social Networks, or iRedes, presented by its coordinator, Cristina Perez Villegas, on Monday.
The map brings together all social networks in the world with more than 10,000 users, organized by topic.
Facebook comes out on top as “the largest and the fastest growing” medium in 2015, Perez Villegas said at a press conference.
The iRedes coordinator explained that Chinese social network Qzone and YouTube came next with a billion active accounts; Instagram, which is a leader in photography follows with 400 million users, and Twitter has 320 million users, “even though its growth has not been as expected” in the last year.
The 6th edition of the Ibero-American Congress on Social Networks will take place in Burgos on Mar. 3 and 4, with 43 speakers on topics related to communication, marketing, advertising and social networks.
