Jimmy Kimmel will host the 68th edition of the Emmy Awards, the top prizes in U.S. television, to be held on Sept. 18 in the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the organization announced in a communique on Monday.
The popular host of the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” late-night talk show will reprise his role at the event, after being master of ceremonies for the awards in 2012.
“I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again. I have a feeling I’m going to be great,” said Kimmel in a statement.
He also posted a message on his Twitter account announcing his selection for the awards and, until then, wishing his fans “a great summer.”
Meanwhile, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement that Kimmel is a “consummate showman.”
“With Kimmel at the helm, expect to be at the edge of your seat for a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Emmy event,” he added.
The nominees for the 68th edition of the awards will be announced on July 14.
In last year’s Emmy Awards ceremony, hosted by actor Andy Samberg, the fantasy epic “Game of Thrones” was the big winner, taking home 12 awards, the largest number ever won by a single TV series anywhere.
