Actress Drew Barrymore and her husband, Will Kopelman, have started divorce proceedings, the couple told People magazine.
“Sadly, our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,” the couple said. “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.
The 41-year-old Barrymore, who starred in “Charlie’s Angels” and “50 First Dates,” and Kopelman, an art consultant, got married nearly four years ago and are the parents of Olive, 3, and Frankie, 1.
“Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority,” the couple said in an exclusive statement sent to People.
This is the third divorce for Barrymore, who had her breakout role in “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” (1982).
The actress was married to businessman Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995 and comedian Tom Green from 2001 to 2002.
