Harrison Ford would have not agreed to take the part in the new instalment of the Indiana Jones saga if it had not been directed by Steven Spielberg, the actor said in an interview published today by the BBC.
“I’ve always thought there was an opportunity to do another. But I didn’t want to do it without Steven (Spielberg),” Ford said of the fifth film in the series of the intrepid archaeologist, which is scheduled for release in 2019.
The actor admitted that he had other conditions before accepting the part.
“I didn’t want to do it without a really good script. And happily we’re working on both.
Steven is developing a script now that I think we’re going to be very happy with,” said Ford, 73.
The first Indiana film “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, was released in 1981, followed by “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” in 1984, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” in 1989, and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in 2008.
