Spanish Formula One driver Fernando Alonso (McLaren), two-time world champion, said he is very happy to go to Bahrain for the second race of the Formula One World Championship, after the accident in Australia.
“I’ve been resting and I am really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the car,” he said in remarks circulated by his team before the Bahrain race on April 3.
The Spanish driver was involved in the accident which occurred while trying to overtake Mexican Esteban Gutierrez (Haas) at the 17th of the 58 laps at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne.
He explained that although the result indicates Melbourne was “not a great race” for him, before the incident he had “some good battles on track and sensations in the car were quite promising.”
“I really like running in Bahrain, it has been a good track for me, I’ve won three times there,” he said.
